On Friday, November 21st and Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, a conference took place with the participation of the German Association for Heritage and Environment (BHU), the Lower Saxony Heritage Association, the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography, the Foundation for Nature Conservation History, as well as numerous universities and other institutions. The conference was opened by the President of Leibniz University Hannover, Prof. Dr. Volker Epping.
The event was held in honor of our colleague Prof. Dr. Hansjörg Küster, who passed away last year. Küster received posthumous honors from numerous individuals and institutions, including the posthumous award of the Ernst Rudorff Honorary Plaque, which his brother Ulf Küster accepted on his behalf.
All contributions from the conferences will be published next year in a book entitled "Universality of Landscapes" by the BHU; all contributions and greetings were already available in digital form at the conference and can be read online.
We would like to thank all our partners for their excellent cooperation before, during and after the event.
