On June 19, 2026, the annual network meeting for geography education teams from the universities of Osnabrück, Hildesheim, Vechta, Hannover, and Bremen took place in Osnabrück. The event began with an engaging guided tour of the diverse Botanical Garden - led by Claudia Grabowski-Hüsing (Head of the "Grüne Schule" Osnabrück) - which included a visit to the Amazon Rainforest House. Afterward, the educational programs offered by the "Grüne Schule" at the Botanical Garden were presented. The afternoon was dedicated to discussing the current state of geography education in Lower Saxony and Bremen, upcoming conferences, the jointly planned symposium "Geography Symposium: Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Today – Planetary Boundaries and Societal Transformation" (Event No.: KH.2635.LUH7)—scheduled for August 27, 2026, in Hannover—and other collaborative projects.
